The page has encountered a critical error. Contact you system Administrator if this Problem Persist

Last week when I step in my office log on my pc and open my web company intranet I see the error on my SharePoint Portal. The error says “The page has encountered a critical error. Contact you system Administrator if this Problem Persist. Trouble Shoot With Windows SharePoint Services.”
I was Like WTF. Everything was working when I logged out Last night and this morning what happened. I already start having bad day. In 10 minutes I get 200 Email from the users who seem to have same issue. I logged on the server and tried to browse within the server and same issue. I restart IIS and everything was fine. I don’t know what went wrong where but I was in joy at least now everybody can browse to our intranet. I tried to See the error log Couple of ASP error log but nothing related to it. So I just thought other admin might run some updates on the server which might cause the issue.

All day server was ok and no error log. Days over . I checked the site everything is coming fine. I logged off end of the day and went home. Next Morning I have doctor appointment so was in late to work at 8 when I was waiting for the doctor I got Phone call from my manager that we have issue with the Intranet and no one can browse the Company site. He send me the screenshot. WOW its same error . I was like what is going on? There are 3 sites on our Server and only happening in our Company intranet .
Not on any other sites. I request my boss to do IIS Reset and everything will be ok and it was.

I cam to work around 11 am. Call Microsoft support they do their stuff. SPS reports. They said everything looks fine . They asked me to show the error . I mailed them the screen shoots and informed them this happen everyday at once a day and is resolved after doing IIS Reset. As our site is fully customized they said it might be something with the feature or binaries. But my Dev server which works just fine with same feature. I told them and they said they are going to figured it out. . They need time which I don’t have as it is my production server. So finally I also don’t have any choice and was waiting for them to call me back god knows when it will be resolved. I cant wait to get callback. All day my work was only to find out what is the issue?

I tried to compare each and everything between production server and dev Server. Everything looks same . All the hot fixes and updates are also same . I started to use my best tools GOOGLE. 5 hrs went no result or no solutions.

I left for home around 7 PM and was still thinking about the issue. As soon as I am in home log on to our company network and starting checking all the stuff again. I did not change anything yet.

Around 11 PM I got one hit about having 3GB switch on boot.ini and he was not able to upload large file on SharePoint. I thought what the heck lets check if 3GB switch is presented. BINGO I have 3 GB switch on my production server and not in Dev server. I backed up whole server and removed 3GB switch and restarted the Server. I did make sure that I can log on the server browse the site . Everything works and I left it logged off from the network had my dinner and I was ready for bed. Next day I have no error on my SharePoint Server. The issue was resolved. So the main issue was 3 GB switch .
